In partnership with USA Baseball, Firecracker Sports hosted the first stage of the National Team Identification Series (NTIS) at the Metrowest Sports Center this past Friday. We saw 40 players attend the pro-style workout, with ages ranging from 10 years old to 16. Thank you to the MWS Devils and Metrowest Sports Center for allowing us to host at their facility.
While each player displayed their abilities for the evaluators, we would like to highlight some top performers from the event as well as some younger guys to keep an eye on this spring and summer. Click on each player throughout this article to see their recruiting profile!
John had one of the best showings last Friday as only a 7th grader. His versatility to play both behind the plate and on the mound was on display as he led the day in catcher pop time, peak exit velocity and peak fastball velocity. He is definitely a guy to keep an eye on in the future.
Colin is a freshman at Xaverian with solid potential. He had a good all around showing at the event, most notably during pitching and defensive evaluations where he landed on the leaderboards for infield velocity and peak fastball velocity. Will be interesting to see whether he focuses on pitching or the infield as he grows into his body.
David is a young catcher who turned in a good performance at the event as shown by his presence on the leaderboards. He was great defensively, and at the plate launched balls mostly to the pull side with above average power. It will be fun to watch him develop with MWS and BC High.
