FIRECRACKER SPORTS LEADERSHIP

MARK COOKE

Mark has owned and operated Firecracker Baseball, now Firecracker Sports since its inception in 2008. The company has grown from 6 teams that very first year to over 380+ teams in 2019. Some of his proudest moments running Firecracker Baseball are when we can include former players, current players as staff, coaches and other roles within the company, some are listed below.

During his playing days, he graduated from Bishop Feehan in 1997 on a team that went 20-2 his senior year and won the EAC Conference. Mark was a pitcher during that time and continued on at Salve Regina University playing 4 years and during his senior year won the Conference Championship and competed in the NCAA Division III Tournament in Harwich, Massachusetts.

After playing finished in 2001 he went into coaching at different levels through the Pawtucket RBI (Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities) Program, bringing his teams to the World Championships in 2001, 2002 and 2004. For the next 8 years Mark also coached American Legion baseball in Cumberland, RI and High School baseball at the Wheeler School in Providence, RI and at Bishop Feehan HS in Attleboro, MA. After Bishop Feehan HS finished in the top 25 in the state of Massachusetts in 2014, Mark moved onto Dean College as a recruiting coordinator/assistant coach ultimately ending up at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island as the top assistant/pitching coach for the last 2 years concluding in 2018.

Coach Cooke was named the Head Coach of the Coastal team for the prestigious Bay State Games in Massachusetts in 2014. He carried that role through 2018 when Skip McCarty took over the position and lead the Coastal team to medals in 3 out of the last 4 years. Coach Cooke has coached over 91 players that have moved onto the collegiate level and 13 players that have played professionally in his 17 years of coaching.

DON PERRY

Don Perry has been with Mark Cooke and Firecracker Sports for all 12 years. Don’s vast experience in coaching baseball encompasses over 15 successful years at numerous levels of the game to include town, travel, high school and college baseball. Some of the teams Don coached with were Team Nokona, New England Predators, Bishop Feehan High School, North Attleboro High School and Salve Regina University.

After 20 years in public service, Don is pursuing his passion now full time by staying connected to the game he loves and coaching in a slightly different way. As Director of Operations, Don will wear a variety of hats. His favorite hat to put on though is the one when his job entails giving the players the resources they need to improve their skills and make the successful transition from one level of the game to the next. Don helps find quality venues for our tournaments, top notch competition to improve players athletic skills, the latest resources and technology to assist players in their growth, and with connections between players and college coaches.

Andrew Ciechanowski

Andrew joined the Firecracker Sports’ team in the summer of 2022 after an internship the prior fall.  As a former intern, he had the opportunity to grow within the company and expand into a full time role, where he now wears a variety of hats.  One of his favorite things to do during a tournament weekend is manage championship games, citing its competitive atmosphere and top level of play.

After attending James Madison University, where he was a member of the club lacrosse team, Andrew transferred to Johnson & Wales University to complete his bachelor’s degree in Sports, Entertainment and Event Management.  Andrew had a previous internship with the Pawtucket Red Sox, where he rekindled his love for baseball.  He also coached lacrosse at Xaverian Brothers High School, where he graduated from.

A diehard Boston sports fan, his favorite baseball player of all time is Pedro Martinez.

Outside of Firecracker Sports, Andrew enjoys playing golf, music production and spending time with friends and family.

Kyle Major

Kyle joined Firecracker Sports in the Summer of 2022 as a Gameday Operations Intern. As a full-time staff member, Kyle’s duties consist of securing premier venues for our events, as well as helping find the next wave of motivated individuals that are looking for the same opportunity that he had as an intern.

A graduate of Southern New Hampshire University in 2023, Kyle studied Sports Management and gained practical experience and knowledge that sparked the passion for running events that he has today. A member of the Club Baseball team at SNHU, Kyle took over the team as President during his senior year.

Kyle also attended Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton, MA, and graduated in 2019. As a varsity baseball player, Kyle was selected to the Enterprise All-Scholastic Baseball Team in both 2018 and 2019. Today, Kyle volunteers his time as an Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach with the Hawks program.

His favorite baseball teams include the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Phillies. His favorite player of all time is Bryce Harper.

In his free time, Kyle enjoys golfing, working out, and of course watching baseball.

Jarrett Hood

Jarrett is from Lilburn, Georgia where he played baseball at Parkview High School.

He went on to play NCAA Division 1 baseball at Georgia State University in the Sun Belt Conference. While playing third base at Georgia State University, he was third in the nation in doubles, and received All-Sun Belt Honors. Jarrett graduated from Georgia State in 2017 with a degree in Sociology with plans to further his education and begin his coaching career.

In April, 2022 Jarrett graduated with his MBA from Point University in West Point, Georgia. While at Point University, Jarrett was the Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach, coaching outfield for the Varsity team, and the Head Coach of the JV Baseball team. While at Point University, he coached two Gold Glove outfielders and an All-Conference outfielder.

Joey Molis

Graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2023 with a degree in Statistics and pursuing a master’s degree in Analytics at Northeastern University. Played college baseball at BSU and is a grad assistant and data analyst for Northeastern Baseball.

My favorite baseball player of all time is David Wright.

When not at a showcase, I relace and fix broken gloves as well as enjoy playing disc golf and going to the movies.

Ethan Stearman

Ethan joined the team in 2023 as a Gameday Supervisor intern. He then completed another internship during the fall with the operations department and has now grown into a full-time role with the company, helping manage operations and hotels. He enjoys helping the events run smoothly as well as being part of championship days!

He has recently finished and graduated from Springfield College with his bachelor’s in sports management, where he took part in the Sports Management club on campus. He was also part of the club ultimate frisbee team while at Springfield College. While Ethan does not have high school or college baseball playing experience, he has followed and loved the game of baseball since he was a little kid, and would happily indulge anyone in talking about his Red Sox.

My favorite baseball player of all time is Dustin Pedroia, who in my words “The best 2nd baseman the Soxs will ever have.”

Outside of running Firecracker Sports events include working out or being physically active, as well as playing golf in his free time.

Sam Huff

Sam joined the team in summer of 2023 as a Game Day Operations/Digital Media Intern, after graduating from Quincy University (IL), with a Bachelor’s in Multimedia Journalism. He has now joined Firecracker Sports full-time to handle our digital content for our showcase events!

Sam has lots of experience covering sports and understanding the life of athletes, having competed in NCAA lacrosse, he continues to enjoy highlighting talented athletes that are looking for a chance at the next level. Sam is a hometown St. Louis Cardinals fan and will not change from the regional pressure, so obviously his favorite player is Yadier Molina.
