Boomer's Blogs 1.12 - ENJOY OUR WILLIAMSBURG EVENT AND BUSCH GARDENS!

MAY 2ND, 2025

Welcome back to Boomer’s Blogs! To all of our teams and families in New England and the greater Northeast region, we hope you’ve been taking advantage of the fantastic weather that we’ve seen recently. We’re finally getting back around to more agreeable climates as the Spring season gets underway, and we know that we’ve all been enjoying it, both on and off the field! For the purposes of this week’s blog, we’ll be “shifting our sights” down south a bit, as we look to “gear up” for the 4th Annual War at Williamsburg! Despite only having been introduced a few years back, the War at Williamsburg has become one of our more exciting events located in Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region. The tournament features four age divisions, with player ages ranging from 13U up to 17U, with 16U/17U combined as the oldest division. This event is a four-game guarantee, with pool play beginning on Thursday, July 10th, and ending that Saturday, July 12th. Playoffs and championship games will be played throughout the day Sunday at some truly top-notch fields and facilities, which we’ll discuss more soon. Last year’s tournament saw some fierce competition across all ages, with top programs coming in from around Virginia, as well as teams who made the trip down from New England or beyond. We’re all excited when we get to see programs get the opportunity to face off against new teams from different areas, not only because it inspires competition, but also because we’re bringing together members of the baseball community from all around the country!

Since this event’s inception just a few years ago, we’ve had programs from the area look to return, and we’ve had teams travel for the event, with some programs making their way down from as far as Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York! While we’re thrilled to have teams from all over enjoy our tournaments, we know that a huge part of what adds to the overall appeal of these events is location, including the venues and fields that we rent and reserve for play. In previous years running the War at Williamsburg, we’ve had the opportunity to offer some great fields and ballparks in the area; for example, our 18/19U division had the opportunity to play at War Memorial Stadium, home to the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League. Another terrific venue we’ve had the chance to hold games at for this event is the Warhill Sports Complex. Our 15U squads saw games there this past year, with some especially exciting matchups under the lights. We also held some of our 13U games at McReynolds Athletic Complex; this multi-purpose park houses fields of all sorts of sports, including plenty of baseball diamonds. All of these venues, in addition to the rest of the fields we reserve for these events, are fields and facilities that we hope reflect the quality and level of play that is shown during tournament games.

Aside from the stadiums and venues we use for tournament games, the locations that these events are held in and around also factor in as benefits; many of our tournaments held throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions feature destinations with plenty to offer, and the War at Williamsburg is no exception. Williamsburg and the greater Virginia area has tons to offer for you, your family, and your team! This tournament is located just outside Colonial Williamsburg, which offers visitors a glimpse into life during the early days of our nation. Since the 1920s, Colonial Williamsburg has stood to preserve historical buildings and sites from the 17th and 18th centuries, all located near the hotel we’re partnering up with for this event. Williamsburg served as the capital of Virginia in the early days of the colonies and the eventual United States, and we feel that the history this area offers is simply incredible. Just outside of Colonial Williamsburg sits Merchants Square; a beautiful downtown area, with restaurants, cafes, shops, and much more.

While there are plenty of ways to spend free time throughout Colonial Williamsburg and the neighboring sites, we figured that we’d also highlight some of the more enticing attractions in the Williamsburg area; Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA are both located just about 15 minutes from the hotels that we’ll be utilizing for this tournament! These are both two terrific options for team or family fun when there’s time off, or in between travel. Busch Gardens is an amusement park with plenty to offer, featuring nearly 30 coasters and rides, shows & music, animal rescues where you can interact with species ranging from horses or cattle, to wolves, pythons, and more! Not to mention, there’s plenty of options for food and drink; whether it be typical amusement fare, or a meal at one of their culturally-inspired restaurants, there are plenty of options throughout the park. The other major attraction in the area, Water Country USA, is sure to appeal to kids and families as well, especially on a hot Virginia day! This park features 12 different water slides, all with their own themes, designs, and levels of intensity. In addition to the slides, Water Country USA also offers multiple pools, as well as lazy rivers, and this Summer they’ll be opening up the brand-new “High-Tide Harbor” section for kids! Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA both stand as “home-run” attractions in the Williamsburg area, and we hope that if you’re joining us for the War at Williamsburg this Summer, you’ll take the opportunity to visit either or both of these outstanding locations!

If you haven’t signed up for the 4th Annual War at Williamsburg, there are still spots available in our 16/17U division, as well as a couple openings in 14U, but there isn’t much availability left. If you’re interested in registering a team at one of these age levels, click through to our event page and sign up today! If you’ve missed out on the event for this Summer, don’t worry; we’re sure to be back around, with multiple events in the Mid-Atlantic region this Summer, as well as later this year in the Fall. While we’re on the topic of these Fall events in the Mid-Atlantic, we’d like to take this opportunity to share that we’re currently running a registration sale on some of our other events in the area! If you’re interested in signing up for the Mid-Atlantic Labor Day Classic, the brand-new Ocean City Fall Showcase, or the Mid-Atlantic Fall Championships (held over Columbus Day Weekend), use the code “MAEarlyBird150” for $150 off your team’s registration fee! Thanks for checking back in to another edition of “Boomer’s Blogs”, we hope we’ll be seeing you in Williamsburg this Summer, or maybe even somewhere else in the Mid-Atlantic region this Fall!
