Our interns are an integral part of the Firecracker Sports team – With many internships available, we provide students tremendous opportunities to learn, grow and gain a greater knowledge to what it is like having a career in the sports and entertainment business.

We provide a positive, fun, and enjoyable work environment and are interested in a variety of students who may be majoring in Sports/Entertainment/Event Management, Digital Marketing and Social Media, Creative Advertising, Data Analytics, Sports Communication and Radio and Video Production.

Paid Summer Internship – Game Day Operation Supervisors

About this Job:

Firecracker Sports Game Day/Operations Managers have a high interest in the game of baseball or softball, a very good understanding of the rules of the game and pride themselves on providing great customer service to our players, families and teams attending our events.

This position requires interns to commit to 6 summer tournaments in and around the areas of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Providence, RI, Saratoga, NY, Westchester, NY and Hershey, PA. (See Schedule Below) (Hotel accommodations and meal stipends are paid for by Firecracker Sports)

As a Game Day/Operations Manager, you will represent Firecracker Sports as the tournaments official field manager. Your duties will include ensuring teams are compliant with tournament and field usage rules and games are run smoothly and on time. You will act as the “official scorer” for each game and report all scores and notable activities at the field to the Tournament Director. You will interact and provide information relative to the tournament to our players, coaches, families and scouts.

Submission of a cover letter and a resume to Firecracker Sports is required.

Requirements Include:

  • Ability to manage your time and independently.
  • Must be able to multitask and manage multiple teams, games and coaches throughout the day.
  • Having a friendly disposition with good communication skills.
  • Be resourceful and have the ability to resolve issues which may arise such as absentee/late umpires, team conflicts, rule discrepancies, weather related and field issues.
  • Know how to keep score of a baseball or softball game.
  • Applicants are required to have a field of study in event management, sport management and/or customer service and/or public relations and/or operations management and/or sports operations.
  • Interns will report to 6 events throughout the summer and work through their related duties during the day.
  • Schedule to be provided during interview.
  • Interns are required to stay overnight at events
  • Interns are required to have their own reliable means of transportation to and during the events.
  • Applicants must have a valid license and have a reliable automobile for travel to and from events.
  • Interns must be available for all games and events for their term. Interns report to the field one hour before the game/event, and remain until all post game duties are fulfilled. Your employment must not interfere with your internship commitment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Setup and breakdown of game day activities at each field/facility assigned.
  • Take initiative and make proper notifications to make sure field is game ready if no field maintenance crew is available.
  • Keep score at game
  • Keep clock at game (Games are run on 2 hour time limits)
  • Report Scores to Tournament Director
  • Touch up field between games if no field maintenance crew is available.
  • Perform administrative duties at our College Showcase Camps prior to each tournament/event.
  • Run administrative duties such as handling player check-ins social media profiles; and other related duties.
  • Act as Firecracker Baseball community liaison by being personal, comforting and accommodating with customer relations with teams; facility owners; players; parents and coaches at all times.
  • Attendance at all games at your assigned field/facility during the event(s) assigned.

Compensation and Future Contract/Employment Consideration:

  • College credit through your approved institution for the semester.
  • $2000 paid to Intern upon successful completion of summer internship
  • All necessary Hotel Accommodations paid for by Firecracker Sports.
  • Interns have been hired as paid contractors, administrators and staff for future events with Firecracker Baseball after successfully demonstrating the skills necessary to fulfill their related duties.

Summer Internship – Social Media/Graphic Design Specialists

About this Job:

Our Social Media Specialists plan, implement and monitor Firecracker Sports’ Social Media strategy to increase brand awareness, improve Marketing efforts and increase sales. Interns will help gather, develop and optimize content and our Social Media strategy in order to increase our online presence and improve our marketing and sales efforts.

Interns for this position will have a good understanding of the game of baseball. Preference will be given to graphic design and/or marketing and/or media-related majors that have been actively involved in social media, graphic design and sports programs.

Social Media Specialists interns are part of the Firecracker Baseball Operations Team and report to the Director of Public Relations, Tournament Director and/or President. This group is expected to work closely together to ensure a positive and consistent game day experience.

Requirements Include:

  • Applicants will have a background/interest in digital media/social media marketing.
  • Will have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content.
  • Interns will be required to join relevant conversations on behalf of FirecrackerSports

  • Positive attitude, detail and customer orientated and good multitasking and organizational ability

  • The Social Media Specialist intern is part of the Firecracker Baseball Public Relations team and he/she will be responsible for helping build and execute a social media strategy at each event
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages our target audience to take action
  • Determine/manage what type of content works best on each platform, optimize content accordingly
  • Engage with our audience through social media posts and interactions.
  • Accountable for designing graphics to enhance social media and YouTube broadcast traffic.
  • Must monitor all social media channels daily and contribute commentary as necessary.
  • The ideal candidate is required to have excellent attention to detail as well as experience using Adobe products including Photoshop, Illustrator and video editing software.
  • Candidates have a strong understanding of social media, including: Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Must be able to turn around high-quality content quickly and with minimal oversight and supervision. Maintain a clean and organized work space at all events/games.

Compensation and Future Contract/Employment Consideration:

  • College credit through your approved institution for the semester.
  • $1000 paid to Intern upon successful completion of summer internship
  • $100 paid to Intern separately for meal/travel expenses to 5 events (Total $500)
  • All necessary Hotel Accommodations paid for by Firecracker Sports.

Individuals should have a proven interest in sports video production and a complete understanding of the game of baseball is required. Preference will be given to college students who have video production and media-related majors and have been actively involved in video production and media and sports programs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are preferred. Submission of sports-related video production material is required and will be reviewed during interview and selection process.

Videographer interns are part of the Firecracker Baseball Operations Team and report to the Director of Public Relations, Tournament Director and/or President. This group is expected to work closely together to ensure a positive and consistent game day experience.

Paid Summer Internship – Sales/Marketing Internship with Firecracker Sports

About this Job:

Our Sales and Marketing specialists are students who are majoring in Sports Marketing and have a passion for business to business sales. You will assist us by selling and marketing our products and merchandise through social media channels and by directly selling to consumers at our events.

This position requires interns to commit to 6 summer tournaments in and around the areas of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Providence, RI, Saratoga, NY, Westchester, NY and Hershey, PA. (See Schedule Below) (Hotel accommodations and meal stipends are paid for by Firecracker Sports)

As a sales and marketing intern, you will represent Firecracker Sports to market and sell our products and services to our patrons during our events. Your duties will include setting up and breaking down a display tent with merchandise at various locations at each event. You will control and track inventory. You will handle cash and electronic transactions on Apple Pay.

Submission of a cover letter and a resume to Firecracker Sports is required.

Requirements Include:

Ability to manage your time and independently.
Have a friendly disposition with good communication skills.
Be comfortable selling products directly to consumers.
Applicants are required to have a field of study in marketing, event management and/or customer service with a passion for sports.
