March is finally here! We’re getting closer and closer to baseball being back, and all of us at Firecracker Sports can’t wait to kick things off with our Northeast Premier Baseball League later this month! It’s still early in the year, as we’re looking ahead to all of our league games, showcases, and tournaments throughout the spring and summer seasons. However, we want to be sure to highlight a few key events that are held outside of the typical spring and summer baseball months. More specifically, we would like to share information on our existing selection of tournaments that are held towards the end of the summer, and lead into the fall season. We are also eager to discuss our newest tournament and fall event, the Ocean City Fall Showcase!
The Ocean City Fall Showcase will join our selection of end-of-summer & fall tournaments, including both the 3rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Labor Day Classic & 11th Annual Labor Day Classic, as well as both our 3rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Fall Championships & 8th Annual New England Fall Championships. Although they may be held later on in the typical baseball months, these events are some of our most exciting, and serve as a terrific way to close out a long season! Both of our Labor Day Classic events feature four separate age divisions; 12U, 13/14U, 15/16U, and 17/18U. As for the rest of our autumn events, the Mid-Atlantic Fall Championships will have the same four age divisions as our Labor Day events, while the New England Fall Championships will only have three; 13/14U, 15/16U, and 17/18U.
Aside from providing a strong and fun finish to the baseball year, these events still provide solid competition, as well as opportunities for players to be seen by college or professional scouts & coaches. In the past, our Labor Day tournament in Providence, RI has seen representatives from the University of Rhode Island, UMass, Rhode Island College, and the Texas Rangers organization. Aside from our two Labor Day events, our Fall Championships in both New England and the Mid-Atlantic regions also serve to provide players the same level of visibility and promotion; between both of these events, we have had personnel join us from organizations such as Liberty University, Springfield College, Babson College, and the Washington Nationals.
In addition to our existing catalogue of fall events, Firecracker Sports is thrilled to discuss our newest tournament that we’ve recently announced, set to debut this fall! This September, we will be hosting our first-ever Ocean City Fall Showcase throughout Ocean City & Salisbury, Maryland. This will be our first tournament in the state of Maryland, and we couldn’t be more excited to make our way down from New England after the spring and summer seasons! The Ocean City Fall Showcase will take place from September 12th-14th, and the tournament is a 3-game guarantee, with 5 different age divisions, ranging from 9/10U to 17/18U. Over the last few years, we have had more and more teams from Maryland and the greater Mid-Atlantic region register for our events, which has led to us establishing more and more events in the area! We have continued to add tournaments & showcase events in states like Virginia and Pennsylvania, but as we mentioned, the Ocean City Fall Showcase will be our first full-on venture into Maryland. Games being played during the event will be played and hosted at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in Salisbury, MD. This is truly a top-notch facility, with a variety of fantastic fields that will be available across all of our different age divisions.
“Having visited Ocean City, Maryland a few years ago, it’s a great place for a family to visit and enjoy the beaches but also the attractions that stretch out from the boardwalks,” says Mark Cooke, President and Owner of Firecracker Sports. “Having visited the Henry Park Athletic Complex along with Salisbury University, I can truly say that it’s a great area for baseball, as well as spending a few days with family off of the field and away from games. “Going to the Jolly Roger Amusement Park was a blast with my kids, but also the warmer temperatures and the ocean were relaxing, and served as a break from the daily work life. One of the other highlights of our trip was easily the local restaurants serving some of the best seafood we’ve had, and other delicious entrees as well. I encourage anyone that would like to visit this beautiful destination to join us for a family friendly but also high showcase event this coming Fall.”
Aside from the tournament and venue, Ocean City has tons to offer teams and families while in the area; their world-famous Boardwalk offers a ton of attractions, food & snacks, and Jolly Roger Amusement Park has a location on the pier! Off the Boardwalk, there is a main Jolly Roger Amusement Park location, go-kart tracks, mini-golf, museums, tours, casinos, and plenty of other activities for family and friends! We hope that you and your team will join us in Maryland this fall for the debut of the Ocean City Fall Showcase!
As the spring season approaches, we get closer and closer to getting back on the field, first in the early months of the baseball season, and later on in the dog days of summer. However, we at Firecracker Sports want to remind you that just because the summer will eventually start to wind down, it doesn’t mean that the baseball season has to go right along with it! Whether it be one of our Labor Day tournaments, one of our Fall Championship events, or our newest Ocean City showcase, we are excited to see how the year shapes up leading to these events, and we hope to see you and your team or organization at some point in the fall!
Aside from discussing College Baseball, or our fall events and the Ocean City Fall Showcase, Firecracker Sports would also like to highlight some updates regarding our website and other general company information.
