Boomer's Blogs 1.6 - Firecracker Sports “Maine Events” for 2025

FEBRUARY 15TH, 2025

As we make our way through February, slowly inching away from the bitter cold, winds, and snow often associated with New England winter weather, it’s always nice to imagine being in a more enjoyable place or climate. With March coming up, the spring and summer seasons are on the way, and what better place to envision spending a weekend than some of the best destinations in the state of Maine! Here is an update on our baseball tournaments in Maine.

The 7th Annual All American Lighthouse Classic will be our first of three tournaments held in the Pine Tree State this year; the tournament will take place across Old Orchard Beach & Portland, Maine, beginning on June 21st, with playoffs & championships running through June 24th. The day before the tournament begins, though, Firecracker Sports will be hosting a College Showcase Camp for players that are 2026, 2027, and 2028 graduates at the Ballpark at the Beach in Old Orchard Beach. This camp, taking place on Friday, June 20th, is also a qualifying event for our end-of-season showcase, Fire 55. When registering, you can choose to sign up as a position player, pitcher, or for a combined camp incorporating both positional work and pitching. At the camp, players will receive a pro style workout and a statistical data driven evaluation performed by college and professional coaches. These evaluations will be made available online and distributed to our college scouting and contact database. We are proud to provide college and professional staff for evaluation during these showcase camps, as well as throughout tournament play. Last year’s event featured coaches from schools such as the University of Maine, Salem State University, Salve Regina University, Russell Sage College, and many other beneficial organizations.

As for the tournament itself, the All American Lighthouse Classic is currently nearing capacity, but if you or your program have any interest, you can always apply to register or check the waiting list, in case another team drops out! This tournament is easily one of our most sought after for the early summer season, combining both high quality play with a charming atmosphere. The event features 5 age divisions, ranging from 13U-19U, with 16/17U and 18/19U being combined divisions. This tournament routinely sees upwards of 100 teams across all divisions, with organizations and teams coming in from all over the New England region. Aside from tournament play, there is plenty of fun to be had in the surrounding areas. For example, Firecracker Sports has teamed up with the Portland Sea Dogs, the AA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, to host a family BBQ during a game for tournament entrants;

“Enjoy Firecracker Sport’s Bullpen BBQ at Delta Dental Park on Saturday, June 21st! Gates open at 4:30 PM, game at 6:00 PM. Featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet (from 5:00 until 7:00 PM) that includes hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled chicken sandwiches, mac n’ cheese, Coca-Cola products, Sea Dog Biscuits, frozen lemonade, and brownies! (Gluten free options are available upon request.) Gifford’s Pavilion Bullpen BBQ is an exclusive area and can only be accessed with a ticket purchased as part of the All American Lighthouse Classic being held June 21-24th, 2025. Those who may choose to purchase tickets in the seating bowl (regular tickets purchased for the game online) will not have access to this area. This is a great way to spend a night, after a day at the field, being with your teammates, family and other friends in a laid back setting, enjoying one of the true family friendly ballparks in the country!”

Our second tournament being held in Maine this year is actually a brand-new event for Firecracker Sports; this summer, we will be holding the first ever Northeast Summer Championships! As we look to debut this new tournament, you’ll notice it isn’t quite as large as some of our other events, such as the All American Lighthouse Classic; when compared to our larger overall tournaments, our regional “Championship” series events tend to include a lower team total, due to the increased emphasis on competition. No more than 10 teams will be accepted per each of the three divisions, and the event ranges from 15U to 18U, with 17/18U being one age division. This tournament is a five-game guarantee, with only the top teams from each division advancing to the playoffs and championship round. The top teams will make the trip to Maine, and look to prove their talent and capability against some of the best organizations that compete in our New England events! While competing, players will have the opportunity to face off at quality fields and venues in the area, such as the Ballpark at the Beach in Old Orchard Beach, at the University of Southern Maine, Crystal Athletic Fields, and more. These are some of our favorite venues to work with, just another of the many reasons we decided to establish another event in Maine!

Our third and final event in the state of Maine during 2025 will be the 3rd Annual All American Summer Classic, which will run from Thursday, July 31st, through Saturday, August 2nd. You may notice that the name is similar to the first tournament we discussed in this post, the “All American Lighthouse Classic”. This isn’t a coincidence, especially considering both events are held in the same general area of Maine, just about a month apart. Upon the introduction of the All American Lighthouse Classic seven years ago, we saw an increased demand for events in the area, which also inspired the addition of the Northeast Summer Championships as another new event this year. The All American Summer Classic has already become much more, though; since its inception, it has served as an additional opportunity for teams and organizations to play outside their typical range, and against top competition in the northeast region. The most distinctive aspect of the All American Summer Classic, though, is that it is one of our events that features both a baseball and softball tournament! Our softball tournament will feature three divisions of 14U, 16U, and 18U teams. As for the baseball tournament, ages will range from 13U-18U across 5 divisions, with 17/18U playing in a combined age bracket.

Registration for this event is still open, and there is availability in all divisions for both the baseball and softball tournaments. The night before the tournaments start, Firecracker Sports will host another College Showcase Camp, just like the one ahead of the All American Lighthouse Classic; when signing up, players can still choose to register as a position player, pitcher, or both. The camp will be held Wednesday, July 30th, at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, ME. Once again, players will receive a workout and an evaluation performed by college and professional coaches. The evaluations will eventually be available online and will be distributed to our college scouting and contact database. In addition to the showcase and both tournaments, Firecracker Sports is working alongside the Portland Sea Dogs to plan an additional event night for Saturday, August 2nd, during the All American Summer Classic!

Firecracker Sports has spent some considerable time in Maine now between some of the different events we’ve hosted, and we can easily say that it is one of the most inviting and exciting areas that we get to visit. Aside from the tournament games, or the events with the Portland Sea Dogs, there are tons of opportunities for team and family fun, all nestled near Old Orchard Beach and the surrounding areas. There’s the obvious thought of checking out the beautiful Maine beaches in the area, or you could take a walk down the pier, visit Palace Playland just down the road from some of our hotels, or even take a day trip to Portland or other surrounding destinations. All in all, we love coming back to Maine for our events each year, and we’re glad that we have organizations, teams, and families that enjoy coming back as well. We hope to see you in Maine for one of our events this season!
