Boomer's Blogs 4.0 NORTHEAST PREMIER BASEBALL LEAGUE

FEBRUARY 8TH, 2025

With the start of a new month, Firecracker Sports would like to take this opportunity to share some information on one of our most exciting new ventures, The Northeast Premier Baseball League! We’re currently gearing up for the league’s debut, including meetings with coaches and parents from participating organizations, and we figured what better way to get more information out than to discuss the league in this week’s blog!

You may be wondering what will set the Northeast Premier Baseball League, or NPBL, apart from other youth baseball leagues and organizations, and we’re happy to tell you! The NPBL will offer a competitive, yet accessible, league alternative, while still offering many of the same benefits and features that we provide at our tournaments and showcase events. The NPBL is open to teams from all throughout New England (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI). Teams within the league will have access to their own personal portal to coordinate and manage schedules based on their availability, giving coaches the decision as to when they’d like to play teams within their area, or schedule an opponent who may be outside their typical radius. Teams that are involved in the league are required to have a “home field”, but everyone will ideally play an equal number of home and away games. This method of scheduling also allows for teams and organizations to plan and participate in additional games, tournaments, and events outside of the NPBL.

Throughout the season, Firecracker Sports will provide baseballs and cover field/umpire costs for all NPBL games, as well as providing trophies, banners, and more for teams who win their respective divisions! As NPBL games are played, the Firecracker Sports website will also continue to provide live scores, updates, game/schedule information, standings, and more! Along with our social media pages, our website will provide tons of information and resources regarding games played in the NPBL. One of the new features we’re most excited about is our player profiles and metrics; these pages will include personal stats, game scores, and player demographics for each and every player within the NPBL! In addition to making this information readily available to players, parents, and coaches, it also provides a better opportunity for individual visibility among scouts and college coaches. With more overall games played and increased performances to pull from, some players may also increase their chances at receiving an invite to Fire 55 or Jr. Fire 55. These are Firecracker Sports’ premier showcase events of the year, with both them being held at Dunkin Donuts Park, home of Colorado Rockies AA affiliate, the Hartford Yard Goats!

The NPBL currently has age groups spanning from 9U through 14U, an additional 14/15U group, and a 16-18U group for high school players. Each age group has three divisions for teams to compete in, with the exception of 9U which has a fourth “open division”. These three divisions are the Premier, Champions, and Victory Divisions. At the end of the 2025 season, the top 4 teams from the Champions and Victory divisions will be promoted to the next respective division, while the bottom 4 teams from the Premier and Champion divisions will be relegated to the group below their previous ranking. Not only will this add to the overall competitive nature of the league, but it also allows for players to experience varying levels of baseball throughout their youth careers.

We asked Firecracker Sports President Mark Cooke to once again share his own perspective with us, and discuss the upcoming NPBL. When asked about what makes the league unique and what it has to offer compared to different organizations, he said;

“I am ecstatic with the amount of interest we have had from customers this fall and winter for our Northeast Premier Baseball League. With over 100 teams committed for this first season in the spring, we are extremely fortunate to have a proof of concept that people like and want to be a part of. We feel that with the proper planning, but more importantly, the advanced marketing we are going to give to the players and their teams weekly, this is going to be a “Home Run” for them like never before seen!

The 14/15U and High School age groups are the only leagues in this area that allow players to get in developmental work in between tournaments, while also being seen by college coaches when traveling weekend to weekend to various tournaments, like Firecracker Sports’ events. This will allow coaches and directors to build in innings for development, as well as teaching moments, but also have player promotion on the website & social media during the week, when other kids may not be playing.

We are very excited about our marketing plans for the league, with player of the game selections, a scoreboard promotion each Monday featuring the week’s games, a Player of the Week selection per age group, highlights, and more! This selection will be based on social media polling on our Twitter and Instagram, allowing people to have a say on those top performers each week. After the Player of the Week is announced Thursday evening, we will have blogs up on Friday highlighting all of the top performers, along with highlighted upcoming games and other information regarding stats, video uploads, and more!”

Registrations are still open starting at $299 per team ($199 for 9U only), and we’re currently set to kick off the first NPBL games on March 29th. Thank you for taking the team to read all about the League, and feel free to check out the rest of our blog posts featuring some of our biggest events, scout day recaps, and general updates from all around baseball. We hope to see you and your team join in on the northeast’s newest league!
