Firecracker Sports Response to COVID-19

Updates and More Information

Today there are only a few updates regarding our 2020 schedules as it pertains to COVID-19.

  1. We are proceeding with all future events as scheduled (4th of July and our 4 Fall events).
  2. Any team requests for transfer or refunds are complete at this point. Any requests remaining in 2020 will be credits for 2021 events.
  3. Schedules for 4th of July will be available for coaches on Monday, August 10th and will be released publicly on Friday, August 14th.
  4. This page will not be updated moving forward as we are a “full-go” for all future events.
Unfortunately after weekly calls and following New York health officials in the Capital region, we have no choice but to cancel this year’s Showcase Battle at the Borders in Saratoga, Lake George and Schenectady, NY communities.
Due to current CDC guidelines in New York regarding youth sports and the gathering size we have been forced with venues closing and now our event.
  1. New York’s “Youth Sports current protocol” does NOT allow out of region or state teams to compete in their communities, so this eliminates MA, CT, VT, RI and any other state than New York to compete, never mind teams that are NOT from the capital region, so this eliminate Long Island, Buffalo and other areas of New York.
  2. Gathering sizes are still limited to 50 or less so the College Showcase Camp is an issue/concern for many.
  3. There are just too many variables to safely run this event for all to enjoy but more importantly for us to continue to return year after year to this beautiful area for baseball.
We have taken the following steps for our customers for this event.
  • College Showcase Camp: August 13th has been canceled.
  • Customers can either select a refund for their showcase purchase or transfer it to another showcase camp we are hosting in 2020-2021 by emailing operations@firecrackersports.com.
  • All 2020 teams registered and PAID, will be moved to our 2021 event dates. You will not have to pay the difference of this event and your spot is guaranteed at this time.
  • Teams will also be given 2 other choices.
  1. You can transfer to another event in 2020 or 2021
  2. You can also receive a 50% refund (cash or credit) plus a 50% credit for a future event so it’s 100% refund for your program, no admin fees withheld.
  • All hotel reservations will be canceled out for your families, players and coaches by the end of business on Monday, July 27th.
Unfortunately after weekly calls and following Maine health officials guidance, we have no choice but to cancel this year’s All American Lighthouse Classic in southern Maine. Due to current CDC guidelines in Maine regarding travel restrictions, hotel stays and the gathering size we have been forced with venues closing, hotels and now our event.
  1. Maine CDC guidance and governmental policies do NOT allow Massachusetts and Rhode Island residents to stay in hotels in Maine currently without a negative COVID test/certificate.
  2. Maine’s “Youth Sports current protocol” does NOT allow out of state teams to compete in their communities, so this eliminates NH, CT, VT and any other state than Maine to compete.
  3. Gathering sizes are still limited to 50 or less so the College Showcase Camp is an issue/concern for many.
  4. There are just too many variables to safely run this event for all to enjoy but more importantly for us to continue to return year after year to this beautiful area for baseball.
We have taken the following steps for our customers for this event.
  • College Showcase Camp: August 7th has been canceled.

  3. Showcase Battle at the Borders (Saratoga and Lake George, NY): Monday, July 27th
  4. 4th of July Showcase “In August” Tournament (Providence, RI): Monday, August 3rd

Unfortunately today is another day that is hard for all of us at Firecracker Sports. After numerous meetings last week with venues, tourism officials, hotels, baseball programs and finally hearing today from New York state officials about the ongoing health pandemic, we are postponing our Showcase Battle at the Borders event until August 14th-16th, 2020.

There are many variables in running an event of this size, weather, scheduling logistics but also player and family member safety which is always one of our top details to assure everyone’s enjoyment. While baseball and youth sports are returning, it’s still very slow opening for events of this size. Yes baseball practices are back and we are seeing games being played with restrictions is great, but events like these are still a few weeks away here in the Northeast. We remain optimistic we will be able to host later in July and throughout August, with improved and enhanced safety measures for players, coaches and spectators. We remain committed to hosting but only if these conditions continue to improve and we can have parents/family members enjoying the event as well.

If you are registered for this event, please see the following updates and preparations we have taken care of.

  • All 13U-19U teams, that have paid, have been moved to our new dates for pool play (Friday, August 14th and Saturday, August 15th) and championships on Sunday, August 16th, 2020. You do NOT need to do anything to secure your spot.
  • If you are a 13U-19U team registered for the Showcase Battle at the Borders and not paid as of 6.1.20, your registration is now null and void. You have been placed on the waiting list and once we secure enough venues for to add more teams, you will be notified in order of registration.
  • If you purchased the College Showcase Camp, your spot has been transferred to the new date of Thursday, August 13th. There is no other action needed. If you can’t attend this new date, we will refund 100% of your fees back to your original form of payment (minus CC fees).
  • If you purchased tickets to Six Flags Great Escape, your tickets are still good for these new dates. If you can’t attend on those dates, your fees will be refunded 100% (minus CC fees).
  • Regarding hotels…if you booked with us, no worries as all hotel reservations have been canceled and no payments have been processed. To book for our new dates/timeframe, please check back by Monday, June 22nd for the new rates/hotel options.
  • If you booked on your own or directly with the hotel, you are on your own to cancel or modify your reservation.

  2. We have added masks, hand sanitizer, touch-less thermometers to our Online Shop to help teams, facility owners and coaches return to practice and instruction in a safe manner. Many items are tough to get a hold of these days, never mind at reduced costs, like we offer our teams and valued supporters.
  3. We have received approval on our “return to play” health and safety guidelines for our events in July and August, As many of you know, we are in unprecedented times and things are “still slow to open” for recreational youth sports, particular games and tournaments. Today there are only a few updates regarding our 2020 schedules as it pertains to COVID-19.

  3. We are waiting for approval on our “return to play” health and safety guidelines for our events in July and August, As many of you know, we are in unprecedented times and things are “still slow to open” for recreational youth sports, particular games and tournaments. 1. Hotel dashboard will be opened for the new dates in August for our 4th of July Showcase Tournament on Tuesday, June 2nd. Please book your rooms as an individual or as a team (5 or more rooms) through this dashboard (https://firecrackersports.com/hotels/).
  2. All teams that have NOT paid as of today (6.1.20) have been removed from any summer event and placed on the waiting list. Due to these unprecedented times and limits on larger gatherings, we are forced to control numbers like never before. Our normal payment deadline is February 1st and we extended this for an extra 4 months to help programs through these challenging times.
  3. We have been in discussions with state, local and also the health officials for Maine, Rhode Island, Saratoga, NY, Hershey, PA and Westchester, NY for our events as we continue to finalize our health and safety guidelines to host our events this summer. Of course these are unchartered times we are ALL living in so we are making sure we are covering all our “bases” while making sure you and your children are protected during our events.

Our next updates regarding events are as followed:

  1. Showcase Battle at the Borders (Saratoga and Lake George, NY): Monday, June 15th
  2. Colonial Clash Showcase Tournament (Westchester, NY and Fairfield County, CT): Monday, June 22nd

  4. All American Lighthouse Classic (Old Orchard Beach, ME): Monday, July 20th
  5. 4th of July Showcase “In August” Tournament (Providence, RI): Monday, August 3rd

Unfortunately today is a day that weighs heavily on all of us here at Firecracker Sports. For over 12+ years, we have hosted this event on the 4th of July holiday weekend, starting with 6 teams in 2008 to over 160+ teams last year. After numerous meetings last week with venues, hotels, various teams in our events and finally hearing today from Rhode Island state officials about the ongoing health pandemic, we are postponing our 4th of July Showcase Tournament until August 19th-23rd, 2020.

There are many variables in running an event of this size, weather, scheduling logistics but also player and family member safety which is always one of our top details to assure everyone’s enjoyment. With no high school season for all of our student athletes, very limited pre-season practices ongoing, we felt with these conditions plus the ongoing health pandemic, it’s best for everyone to move to these alternative dates. We remain optimistic we will be able to host at that time of year, with improved and enhanced safety measures for players, coaches and spectators during our longest running event. We remain committed to hosting but only if these conditions continue to improve and we can have parents/family members enjoying the event as well.

One option that is being discussed is “regional” sites for pool play, i.e. teams from Maine or NH playing in Maine or NH for their pool play then advancing to a neutral site for playoffs/championships. This could make it easier for travel, hotels not being needed and also provide an opportunity for games to be played. We will discuss with programs/teams about this option if there is a program within states that wants to work with us for this opportunity. If you are registered for this event, please see the following updates and preparations we have taken care of.

  • All 8U-12U teams have been moved to our new dates for pool play (Wednesday, August 19th and Thursday, August 20th) and championship on August 21st, 2020. You do NOT need to do anything to secure your spot. All final payments are now due by July 1st for these age groups. Please note….If you can’t attend these dates, you will be entitled to a refund or credit. Please submit the COVID-19 form to initiate the process.
  • All 13U-19U teams, that have paid, have been moved to our new dates for pool play (Wednesday, August 19th through Friday, August 21st), playoffs on Saturday, August 22nd and championships on Sunday, August 23rd, 2020. You do NOT need to do anything to secure your spot.
  • If you are a 13U-19U team registered for the 4th of July Showcase Tournament and not paid as of today (5.26.20), your registration is now null and void. No other actions are needed at this time.
  • If you purchased the College Showcase Camp, your spot has been transferred to the new date of Tuesday, August 18th. There is no other action needed. If you can’t attend this new date, we will refund 100% of your fees back to your original form of payment (minus CC fees).
  • If you purchased tickets to our Pawtucket Red Sox BBQ/Fireworks night, this event is canceled and will not be rescheduled. You have been refunded 100% of your fees back to your original form of payment (minus CC fees).
  • Regarding hotels…if you booked with us, no worries as all hotel reservations have been canceled and no payments have been processed. To book for our new dates/timeframe, please check back by Monday, June 1st for the new rates/hotel options.
  • If you booked on your own or directly with the hotel, you are on your own to cancel or modify your reservation.
Regarding our other summer events starting in July through the beginning of August, everything is still on as scheduled and preparing as normal for your baseball needs. We will continue to update everyone each Monday as we move forward. Please check this page for all the up to date information.

Today there is only a few updates regarding our 2020 schedules as it pertains to COVID-19.

  1. Hotel dashboard has been opened for the new dates in August for our All American Lighthouse Classic in southern Maine. Please book your rooms as an individual or as a team (5 or more rooms) through this dashboard.
  2. Due to the large gathering size of our College Showcase Camp in Westchester, New York on July 22nd, we are reducing this event to 1 session from 6-9PM. If you purchased a registration for either one of the original sessions at 4PM or 7PM, they are now honored for the 6-9PM session time. If you can’t attend this session, you will be issued a refund or credit.
  3. We have been in discussions with state, local and also the health officials for Maine, Rhode Island, Saratoga, NY and Westchester, NY for our events as we continue to finalize our health and safety guidelines to host our events this summer. Of course these are unchartered times we are ALL living in so we are making sure we are covering all our “bases” while making sure you and your children are protected during our events.

Unfortunately today is another day that weighs heavily on all of us here at Firecracker Sports. After several meetings late last week with Maine state officials about the ongoing health pandemic, we are postponing our All American Lighthouse Classic until August 8th-10th, 2020.  We remain optimistic we will be returning to baseball sooner than later with improved and enhanced safety measures for players, coaches and spectators. If you are attending this event, please see the following updates and preparations we have taken care of.

  • If you purchased tickets to our Portland Seadogs BBQ night, you have been refunded 100% of your fees back to your original form of payment.
  • Regarding hotels…if you booked with us, no worries as all hotel reservations will be canceled on 5.12.20 and no payments have been processed. To book for August 7-10th, you will be able to start reserving and blocking rooms by the end of this week.

Regarding our other summer events starting in July through the beginning of August, everything is still on as scheduled and preparing as normal for your baseball needs. We will continue to update everyone each Monday as we move forward. Please check this page for all the up to date information.

Today we don’t have any new updates regarding events. We continue to meet and discuss safety/health guidelines but also our plans for current events. We remain optimistic we will be able to host this summer, with improved and enhanced safety measures for players, coaches and spectators. We will NOT host any event without the ability to have parents watching their children participate in person. These events are for the families as much as the players we serve. We will have safety and health guidelines in place to protect everyone this summer but we wanted this message known to everyone moving forward. Please see the following updates and preparations we have taken care of.

We are monitoring all health and governmental organizations for proper safety and health measures regarding all youth activities. We are looking at all avenues to run our events “as is” along with new safety precautions for our student athletes, coaches and spectators who want to play and watch baseball and softball again. Right now our tournaments and showcase camps are still on as planned this spring and summer. New updates will be provided each Monday, with the next update occurring on April 27th.

* CANCELED* – Friday, May 22nd Memorial Day Patriotic Bash’s Youth Instructional Camp. Due to the size of this large gathering and the impact it could have on the healthy and safety all of involved, we are unfortunately canceling this event. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 issues, we are breaking from our normal refund/credit policies and working with all of our players or families to receive a FULL refund (back to your original form of payment) for the Youth camp only. As a small business and family owned company, we value our players, families and programs and want to help during these difficult times. We hope this will go a long way to making everyone’s life a bit easier these days.
The health and safety of our student athletes, families, staff and college coaches who attend Firecracker Sports’ events has always been our greatest priority. At Firecracker Sports we are all about the relationships within these beautiful games of baseball and softball. Some of our best customers and long time relationships have expanded past 20 years in the game and we want to maintain this for the next 20+ years!
We are monitoring the status of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and WHO (World Health Organization) daily. Also our monitoring includes the state and local health officials in the communities we are hosting events for the next several months.
We want to be back on a baseball field as much as you do but the health and safety of everyone including our loved ones is paramount. We will be reviewing our events again on May 4th when a determination will be made about our Memorial Day event. All other events are expecting to be played as scheduled. We will notify you about any changes, if needed through email along with our website should the need arise.
That being said…If there is anything we can do to help you, your program or any uncommitted players in your program get noticed please let us know during these difficult times. We also wanted to let you know we have come up with a support kit for your baseball needs for the next few months.
Is there a refund or credit policy for teams/events with Covid-19?2020-06-30T07:14:49-04:00

We understand this is unprecedented times we are living in and are here to help you, your families and programs. If your team has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and can NOT attend an event, we will issue a refund to your team of your fees, if submitted within 30 days of the postponed date, not the actual event date. For example, if we postponed 4th of July Showcase Tournament on May 26th, you have 30 days or until June 26th to submit a refund for this event. You can’t ask for refund or credit after this date or 2 weeks prior to the new dates of the event. If an event is canceled or postponed, what happens to my hotel reservation?2020-05-26T13:20:42-04:00

Great question! If you booked through our hotel system, you don’t have to do anything. We handle everything for you! Once an event has been canceled or postponed, we handle the reservations within our hotel system and cancel them out. If an event is postponed, you will have to make a new reservation for those dates and that event. You can always check “My Account” on our website and there is a tab “My Hotels” that show all hotels you have booked with through our site. You an easily edit, modify and cancel your hotels right there as well.

However if you booked on your own “outside of our website or booked directly” you are on your own.
