Boomer's Scout Book (Posted January 23rd, 2026)

Program: Sluggers Fury (MA)
Date: Saturday, January 17th, 2026 9AM-12PM
Location: Sluggers Academy, Medfield, MA
College Coaches Present: 8

Total Players: 24

This past weekend, Firecracker Sports returned with our annual scout day with Sluggers Fury. Joining us and 8 college coaches was athletes from the classes of 2026 to 2029. They had the opportunity to showcase their abilities, get metrics, and interact with the coaches and staff. We hope that every player left the event confident and having gained some new knowledge they can apply to their training for the remainder of the offseason. Huge thank you to the coaches for coming out to help the players, and the Sluggers Fury staff for once again letting us  use their facility.

Every player at the event brought something different to the table, but we wanted to highlight some performances and players that especially stuck out. These players were decided based upon the metrics collected and the evaluations from the college coaches. High school season is right around the corner, but it is still the offseason. Not all players are at their best at this point in the winter, so as a player, if you do not see your name, do not be discouraged. There is plenty of time before the season starts to keep improving. Here are the best performances from the Sluggers Fury Scout Day last Saturday (in no particular order).

Top Position Players

  1. Adam Farne, 2028 Outfielder (Medfield, MA)
    • Last year, Adam was on the “Players to Look Out For” list. He has really come into his game and excelled at the scout day. He runs well with a 7 second 60 yard dash. Also explosive with a 1.72 second 10 yard dash. His arm strength can still improve, but the athleticism and frame is there. He topped out at 87.4 mph off the bat and a 63 mph bat speed. There is power and contact ability in his bat. Overall, there is a lot to like about Adam.
  2. Vincent Willits, 2026 Catcher (Westwood, MA)
    • Vincent proved to be an all around solid player. He did not stick out in any one area, but was solid in every aspect. Has an excellent frame with good hands receiving the ball well behind the plate.  70 velo with a 2.22 pop time is good, but still has room for improvement. Needs to work on accuracy on throws to 2nd and quickening up his release.  Has a good bat speed and swing with some pop.  Vincent will be able to hit at the next level. If there is one aspect to his game that can improve is his athleticism. Adding speed, strength, and size will only help in the future.
  3. Cormac Lang, 2028 Infielder (Natick, MA)
    • Cormac has shown a lot of progress over the past year. He finds himself on this list after improving his 60 yard dash time by over half a second and his exit velocity by 7 mph. He moves well at 1B, but needs to improve footwork at 3B. Arm strength and accuracy also needs to improve, but that may come with adding more strength. His swing is strong, but still needs some refinement. Staying through the baseball and through contact more will help. Cormac has a lot of potential, and if he keeps improving at the rate he is, he will be a great follow.

Top Pitchers

  1. Benjamin Hilton, 2028 RHP (Westwood, MA)
    • Benjamin is an interesting pitcher. He has a good, consistent fastball, especially for his age. He has a two pitch mix with his FB and changeup, with the changeup about 7 mph slower than the FB. This is important as the CH does not have a lot of movement. What makes it deceptive is that it comes out of the same arm slot and with the same spin as the fastball. Improving the CH along with adding a third pitch, like a SL or CB, will be very beneficial. He uses his lower half very well and has the frame to be a very good arm.
  2. Steve Rahley, 2028 RHP (Medfield, MA)
    • Steve has a good, projectable college body. He showed deception with advanced feel for his secondary pitches for his age. There were a lot of secondary pitches. Steve will throw the kitchen sink at you. All pitches have really good movement. A FB, CB, CH, CT, and SW mix will keep you guessing. One tweak is that the CB and SW are nearly identical in shape and spin. Creating more of a difference between the two will help the pitches play off each other even more. Lots of arm-side run on his 2-seem fastball. Will need to get stronger to keep progressing on the mound.
  3. Nathan Parker, 2028 RHP (Medfield, MA)
    • Nathan looked good, but raw, on the mound Saturday. Definite upside once he learns to use his body more efficiently and makes mechanical adjustments. If he gets stronger can definitely be a good player. Pitch wise, he throws a standard FB, CH, CB mix. The FB has a lot of ride and arm-side run, which the CH plays off of nicely. With similar movement, it creates deception. The CB can use some work. It has more of a tumble than a break, and does not move much. Throwing it harder and with more confidence will help the spin, and therefore the break. Nathan has a lot of upside given his frame, but needs to make the proper adjustments to get there.

Top Players To Look Out For

  1. Stevie Cronin, 2029 Infielder/Pitcher (Norwood, MA)
    • Once again, Stevie finds himself on this list. Baseball wise, he has improved tremendously over the past year. He throws harder and hits the ball harder. By quite a bit. He possesses a strong, well developed frame with projectable strength and power potential. Offensively he makes hard contact consistently. He creates solid impact out front, and the ball comes hot off his bat. Demonstrates strength through contact and the ability to drive the baseball. On the mound, Stevie hides the ball effectively. He features a short, efficient arm path and shows late life on his pitches. Where he can still improve is his athleticism. His running times remained consistent, but he did become more explosive. His 10 yard time improved by half a second. He is still young with a lot of time to keep growing. Cronin’s combination of strength, bat speed and deceptive arm actions gives him strong two-way potential and upside as his skills are refined.
  2. Cooper Jurado, 2028 Infielder/Pitcher (Medfield, MA)
    • One of the biggest frames at the showcase, Cooper has a lot of potential as an athlete and baseball player. He has a big 6’1” frame with plenty of room to add muscle and fill out. In the field, has  good footwork at 1B, but is very raw at the position. He has a strong swing with an inside out approach. He get through the ball well. High ceiling on mound, great follow through good torque. Build favors being a very good pitcher if worked on. With additional athleticism and strength, Cooper has the potential to be a hard thrower and a top follow.
  3. Ethan Ambrose, 2029 Catcher (Medfield, MA)
    • Ethan is a smaller framed catcher, but has a consistency behind the plate in his pop times and transfers. Arm strength could improve, which can be done through long tossing. Receives the ball well. At the plate, timing is excellent and hands are in a good slot, however, hips slide occasionally, leaning him forward onto his front foot. Getting into the ground and bracing his front side will help. All in all, Ethan has a solid foundation to build on. With more strength and athleticism, he could be a solid player to watch.
