Sluggers Fury: Team Scout Day (1.21.23)

Over 40 players attended the Sluggers Fury Team Scout Day this past Saturday – Firecracker Sports’ first event of 2023.  The talent was on display for eight DIII and DII college coaches, with players ranging in graduation classes from 2023 to 2026.  Thank you to the Fury coaching staff for allowing us to evaluate their guys! While each player displayed their abilities for the coaches, we would like to highlight some top performers from the event as well as some younger guys to keep an eye on this spring and summer.

Top Prospects

1. Elliott Harris RHP/SS 2024. Westwood High School (MA) 5’7” 120lbs Bats R Throws R

Elliott drew the attention of multiple coaches during his bullpen session.  He found his way onto many of the event leaderboards, but his 81.7mph fastball led the group on Saturday. As a secondary SS, he was able to show off his bat and defensive skills as well as a 7.19 60 yard dash time – the fastest at the event.  He is definitely a prospect worth keeping your eyes on.

2. Nick Hasapidis MIF/3B 2024. Medfield High School (MA) 5’9” 155lbs Bats R Throws R

Nick recorded a peak exit velocity of 87.1mph, landing him on the leaderboard for that metric.  While he was one of many to have a solid performance at the plate, his defensive ability stood out as well. He has the athleticism to make plays as a middle infielder, and arm strength that only one other player topped on Saturday.

3. Alex Baeta C/2B 2024. Mount St. Charles Academy (RI) 5’7” 145lbs Bats R Throws R

Alex was one of the six catchers at the event, and had a great showing.  He landed at the top of the leaderboard in both catcher pop time (2.09s) and velocity (72mph).  He also showed coaches that he can produce at the plate by tracking an average exit velocity of 81.3mph, the third highest on the day.  Alex is also an excellent student boasting a 3.98 GPA.
